TH vs D Advanced English Pronunciation Lesson

hi I am Vanessa from speak English with

Vanessa calm there dare what’s the

difference let’s talk about it often

when my English students try to use the

th sound instead they use the D sound so

in this lesson I want to help you hear

the difference and also use this

correctly yourself let’s start with the

word there there over there we are going

there tomorrow did you notice what my

mouth did and especially what my tongue

did during the word th er E I’m going to

say it one more time I want you to watch

carefully we are going there tomorrow is

my tongue hiding inside my mouth no not

at all

it is outside my mouth and between my

teeth

some people might make their tongue come

out a lot some people might make it a

little bit smaller there there there

we’re going there tomorrow but your

tongue is always going to be visible

there there even if it’s just a little

bit so let’s take this as our first

difference there there because with Adi

dare do you know what if there is a dare

is when someone tells you hey I want to

see can you climb up that mountain and

jump off into the lake I dare you to do

it it’s kind of a risky behavior and

someone challenges you to do something I

dare you dare dare is my tongue visible

for this dare dare not really unless you

have x-ray vision and you can see behind

my teeth my tongue is still inside my

mouth and that’s going to be our

difference between these two sounds

there let me say a sample sentence using

the D I will do the dare tomorrow I will

do the dare dare tomorrow can you say

the sentence with me make sure your

tongue a state in your mouth and you’re

saying it correctly I will do the dare

tomorrow what about our first sentence

using th can we go back is your muscle

memory strong enough let’s say it one

more time and use th we are going there
