ENGLISH IN 5 MINUTES Wordy What is your stance on and Marital status

hey i’m teacher tiffany and i’m going to

teach you some new english words and

expressions now all of the words and

expressions i’m going to teach you today

come from today’s podcast that’s right

the speak english with tiffany podcast

episode for today so after you learn the

words and expressions

make sure you click the link in the

description to listen

to the podcast episode here we go

let’s jump right in all right so our

first

word is an adjective it’s wordy

one more time after me wordy

good job now wordy means using

too many unnecessary words

to explain or say something

for example let’s say you ask someone

hey

what’s the weather like today now

imagine that it’s raining outside

they could simply say oh it’s a little

cold and rainy

very simple right but instead of doing

that they say oh the weather outside

looks a little bit gray and dark and

there are

things moving around and i can see that

the air is not as clear as normal and

the rain is falling they’re

really going on and on and on

you can say whoo their explanation was a

little bit

too wordy basically too many words

make sense all right so again wordy

very good now the next one number two is

actually

a common question and a common way of

phrasing this question

in english here we go what’s your

stance on again for pronunciation

what’s your stance on

excellent now this just means what is

your opinion

or what is your point of view

very simple right so someone may say hey

what’s your opinion of the new president

or

can you tell me more about your point of

view on

another way of saying that or another

way of saying these two things

is what’s your stance on

you got it right so again just remember

that it has the same meaning as

what’s your opinion or what do you think

about dot dot

alright so one more time for

pronunciation

what’s your stance on

good so again i’ll ask you what’s your

stance on

donald trump as the president of america

all right now i want you to put your

comments in the comment section all

right your answer in the comment section

what’s your stance on donald trump being

the president of america

all right so now let’s move on to our

next one here we go

this one is marital status

again here we go marital

status good excellent job now

this just refers to the legal state of

being

married or not now many of you in the

comment sections have asked me teacher

are you married teacher do you have any

kids right you’re curious about my

family life right

to answer your questions no i’m not

married i don’t have any children yet

but i do want to get married

you could also say teacher what’s your

marital status yeah you got it right you

got it

all we’re asking is are you married or

not so again

marital status good job all right so we

learned three new expressions and words

today here we go the first one again was

a nice wordy very good
