[Music]

transportation and today’s topic as well
so if you want to remember all these
expressions and review them I’ve made a
gift for you it’s a free PDF guide that
includes all of the expressions from
this series there are six different
situations and five expressions for each
situation so I hope that these 30
expressions will help you to really use
English confidently and naturally while
you’re traveling you can download this
guide in the description below this
video or at the top here review it print
it out keep it on your phone put it
under your pillow and memorize it use it
as much as you can let’s talk about
today’s topic take a look at this video
and try to guess which situation which
travel situation are we going to talk
about in this video what do you think
you guessed that today’s topic is
getting tickets
if you guessed this congratulations
we’re going to talk about getting
tickets for different kind of events or
attractions because when you go to a new
location you’re probably going to do
some sightseeing
going to museums or gardens or other
places where you need to buy tickets and
different things might happen so let’s
talk about five expressions and five
situations where you can really use
English naturally the first expression
is clear and simple I’d like to get four
tickets for the zoo please I’d like to
get four tickets to the zoo please great
I’d like to get you can say this when
you go to the window you can say this on
the phone you can do a reservation to
get tickets in some situations so you
can say I’d like to get beautiful clear
and simple let’s imagine that you want
to go to an awesome concert when you’re
visiting LA your favorite group is going
to be playing and you are so excited you
want to go see them and you go to the
place where they’re going to play the
concert hall the theater the arena and
the person at the ticket counter says
I’m sorry we are fully booked I’m sorry
the concert is full this means you’re
too late you can’t get tickets so make
sure that you understand this expression
the concert is fully booked the concert
is full but what can you do in this
situation you still have a little chance
not much of a chance but you can still
try you can say oh I didn’t know that I
needed to buy tickets in advance oh I
didn’t know that I needed a reservation
can I get on the waiting list can I get
on the waiting list maybe there will be
a waiting list depending on the event
not all events have a waiting list but
it’s worth trying
you can ask can I get on the waiting
list so because you were disappointed
about the concert tickets
the next night you decide to do
something a little smarter
so for expression number three you’re
going to ask do I need to buy tickets in
advance maybe you want to go see a cool
magician why not okay so you’re going to
call the location or you can go to that
spot if you’re nearby and you can say do
I need to buy tickets in advance or can
I just walk up and buy them do I need to
buy tickets in advance or can I just
walk up and buy them and usually they’ll
be pretty honest about you can
walk up and buy them there might be some
left but you should probably buy them in
advance they’ll let you know the
situation depending on the event how
many people love magicians so make sure
that you ask this in advance maybe
you’re not going to go see a concert
you’re not going to go see a magician
you’re going to go to an amusement park
and you’re super excited to ride some of
the world’s biggest and fastest
rollercoasters but you realize that a
lot of other people are also excited
about riding these rollercoasters so in
advance you call and you say is there
any way to skip the line is there any
way to jump the line and this means do I
have to wait is there any way to go to
the front of the line some places will
have an option where you can skip the
line in some places will say sorry you
have to wait they might say oh yes you
can buy a Fast Pass but it’s going to
cost 20 extra dollars per ticket you can
buy a Fast Pass but it’s going to cost
extra they’ll let you know the situation
but I want to make sure you can
correctly ask and you can correctly
understand their answers all right so
you have tickets for the amusement park
and then you get a call from the concert
and the person at the ticket counter at
the concert found a way to get you into
the concert you were on the waiting list
and it was successful you got into the
concert so what can you do with your
tickets for the amusement park you don’t
want to waste your money you’re kind of
sad that you can’t ride the roller
coasters but you’re glad you can go to
the concert so what should you do with
those tickets well you’re going to want
to ask something to the ticket counter
at the amusement park you’ll want to
tell them we bought tickets for tomorrow
but we’re not going to be able to go can
we return them we bought tickets for
tomorrow
but we’re not gonna be able to go can we
return them and they’ll let you know yes
no maybe
a million dollars and yes they’ll let
you know the situation but this is a
really good question to ask can I return
them in some places you can in some
places you can’t so please ask instead
of just wasting your money and not going
ask them use English feel confident so
now it’s your turn to use these
expressions in the comments below this
video use the expressions from today’s
video and also if you have any other

tickets returning tickets getting
