Hey ladies and gentlemen ladies and

gentlemen please welcome mr. David

Beckham wait morning have a seat have a

seat welcome welcome to Google so let’s

uh let’s kick off no pun intended with a

little little soccer or for our

international friends football you know

you David you really have had a global

soccer career

I mean you joined Manchester United the

young age of 17 you won nine major

trophies in 11 years they are very

impressive you then joined Real Madrid

where you want another trophy and then

since 2007 you’ve been here in the u.s.

playing for the LA Galaxy where last

year you won yet another trophy and I

think that puts you in a very rare group

of trifecta winners of three trophies on

three different countries so

congratulations thank you very much and

then obviously while while preparing to

meet you last night I heard I read even

more news last night the big news

they’ve you decided to stay here in the

US and continue to play for the US the

LA Galaxy congratulations and I think we

are excited that you chose Google as a

place to come talk to your fans and the

rest of the world about that news so why

don’t we start there what are you tell

us a little bit about that decision to

stay with the galaxy well good morning

first of all I’m excited to be here to

be part of this is exciting for me and

to be here with you all and everyone

else watching around the world it’s

exciting Google’s one of the biggest

companies in the world so I’m honored to

be here today my decision obviously

throughout my career has always been

about my family about you know my career

about my football footballing career and

I’ve been lucky to have played over the

years with some of the biggest clubs in

the world some of the best players in

the world

and you know it’s been exciting I’ve

been lucky

enough to have been successful in in

many different clubs that are played for

and professionally coming to the US was

it was something that I was excited

about it was a challenge it was a new

challenge of a played in Europe but won

everything I possibly could in Europe

and I wanted a new challenge so you know

when you conquer Europe it’s nothing

like I said I was like I said I was very

lucky in my career so so then obviously

coming to America was an exciting thing

for me and I’ve had a great five years

met a lot of good people a lot of great

fans around the world traveled around

America played in different parts of

America which I’d never played in before

and it’s been exciting so you know this

championship at the end of this year was

one of the most satisfying in my career

I must admit you know it’s to have been

here for the time that I’ve been here to

reach the goals that I had reached off

the field we’ve raised in you know the

popularity of the game I’d reach those

goals the only goal that I hadn’t

reached was a championship with the

galaxy which is and is the main reason

why I came to America and and came to

the galaxy as a franchise so that was

missing but now it’s not so graduation

but obviously with the new contract now

it was a decision that I I didn’t take

lightly because you know I obviously had

other offers from other clubs around the

world and at 36 years old you don’t

expect to still get these offers so that

was nice but you know it was all about

you know where I felt you the future was

going for the game here in the US and

also where my family was happiest and my

family happiest here at the moment we

love living in LA we love living in

America and we’ve adapted the culture

we’ve adapted everything that this

country has and we enjoy that so I’m

gonna continue to enjoy playing soccer

here and my family you’ll continue to

enjoy it well speaking of kind of away

from the galaxy I saw when you came in

2007 you made a very public

that you wanted to help grow the game of

soccer in the US can you talk a little

bit about how that’s going in some areas

around growing the gaming that’s the

thing you know is one of the reasons why

I came to this country is because for me

soccer is the number one sport around

the world apart from America

there’s don’t get don’t get me wrong the

other sports American football

basketball baseball they’re all great

sports and and have great athletes in

these sports but you know number one

game in the world is soccer so I want to

get soccer to a different level in this

country and I think that we’ve done that

in the last I’ve felt it changed in the

last couple of years and that’s why I

didn’t want to walk away from it because

I’ve felt the change and to walk away at

this point would be would be

disappointing because I’ve been part of

that growth and I want to continue to be

part of that growth so you know it’s an

exciting time you know and it’s it’s

great for the family as well you know

great for the family to be here well

speaking of the family I think we’ve all

read how important family is to you so

you know what role did Victoria and the

kids have in decision in making this

decision I mean they have they have to

final answer simple as that

that sounded wrong but no obviously you

know when you when you’re married when

you have children you know your

priorities totally change you know 10

years ago when I was playing at

Manchester United at Real Madrid you

know obviously we were married but it

was it was a lot easier for us to make

decisions based on our careers whereas

we’ve got three amazing boys now and and

a little girl that we have to look after

and it’s all about them so our our

priorities are about our children but

you know like I said in in the question

before the growth of the game is growing

and you know to see when I first arrived

there be 12 12 teams in in the league

now there’s 19 their stadiums being

built around America solely for soccer

which is a which is

thank you you know and that’s that’s the

exciting part of why I’m one of the

reasons why I wanted to stay yeah I

think the impact of your presence on the

game has been very clear over the last

five years I think one of the other

questions that I’m sure on a lot of

people’s mind you know with this

decision is you know really why come to

Google to tell the world and talk to

your fans why not why not so simple I

can say this is one of the biggest

companies in the world and it reaches so

many millions of people and I felt that

you know it’s something that you always

see when you open your computer you like

that and and and something that was

really excited about so you know like I

said I’m honored to be here with

everyone of thanks for coming out

because there’s a lot there’s a lot of

you thank you so so when getting ready

for this visit we saw that you posted a

video call out for questions on YouTube

which is fantastic and I’d say from that

video we’ve collected tons of questions

we’ve gone through them we’ve curated

them and obviously we’ll go through some

of those today I think just also so you

know your your Google following is also

very strong obviously you can see the

people here in Charlie’s but addition to

this group there are about 26 other

offices from around the world kind of

dialed in to watch this and ask you

questions as well and I think if it

weren’t so late in some of the other

parts of the world we’d have even more

than that so congratulations on building

a following here at Google as well so

let’s dig into some of the questions

right away you know we’ll start with

football Tom ooh-ee from California

wants to know what is the biggest

difference between playing football in

America versus Europe I mean there’s not

a huge amount of difference one of the

biggest difference I’d say is just to

travel it’s literally the travel you

know in Europe we only have to travel

about an hour to to a game or two hours

at the most

whereas when we play east coast we’re

playing you know in New York is five

five and a half hour journey so that’s

that’s a big difference but on the field

you know the level of players definitely

gone up in the last three or four years

and I think that it’s at a stage now

where

you know this game was starting to

attract the interest of some big names

and big players in in Europe and I think

you know there has to be a certain

change with you know some of the things

that goes on throughout the meet but I

think you know it’s a lead now we’re you

know European teams big european teams

are coming over for their pre-season and

they’re playing against us so you know

five years ago you know kind of the

galaxy had been heard of but i think now

with the interest of the players that

have come over such as robbie keane and

obviously london donovan as a you know

as a u.s. star you know we’ve had that

that that interest and it’s uh it’s

exciting to be part of yeah I think it

must be great to see the growth you know

see the change year over a year when the

speed and the power of I think that’s

what you always want you know you want

to see something grow you know if you

sit still so long you know this better

than anyone with with Google you know if

you sit there too long then you know

things change around you and to see the

growth to see the change you know I’m

proud to be part of that that’s great

another question my hands are a– asks

what is the first thing you do think our

notice when you step onto the field

initially I think just the excitement

I’m still here I’m 36 years old and

every time I step on the field I’m I’m

like a little kid and I know once that

changes then that’s when I’ll feel I’ll

have to stop playing but until that

changed I’m going to continue to play as

as long as possible and as long as you

know teams keep off of me new contract

but it seems like that love of the game

that childhood joy of just playing the

game is what drives you

I’ve always been driven you know even a

young age all I ever wanted to do was

become a footballer or a soccer star and

that was my only ambition you know I

know it’s different these days with kids

you know this obviously this Fame this

fortune and it might be easy for me to

say that because obviously I’ve done

I’ve done very well out of the game but

you know I’d still be playing this game

even if I wasn’t being paid for it

no no that doesn’t want to be paid for

it I still would be playing for paying

playing this this small very good very

good

another question Christina Greenwood

asked do you ever listen to music before

a soccer game to kind of get yourself

pumped up always girls Spice Girls

I mean one of they always gets me going

before everybody that’s always see here

so no Spice Girls is not on the playlist

it’s on my ipod but it’s not on the

playlist that’s that’s for a different

time with the kids but no I always

listen to music you know I’m a huge

jay-z firm huge Stone Roses fan as well

who are getting back together and you

just plug in them and know yeah you know

at different clubs it’s strange before

games we always listen to music but

there’s certain managers at certain

clubs that don’t like music before

before a game in the changer in which

you know in the end most players end up

listening yeah you know with their

headsets here that’s good Min Ko wants

you to give up the secret you know how

do you train for the perfect back and

kick we’ve seen it you know how does it

happen

I mean it’s just people have asked me

that over the years you know how do I

curl a ball or how do I bend the ball

and yeah it’s something that just

happened it’s not something that I

thought okay I want to bend the ball

better than anyone else so I’m gonna

kick the ball within this certain way I

just worked on my striking of the ball I

just practiced every day it’s something

that I’ve done from a very young age you

know even after every training session

you know I’d take Bulls on on my own and

just go and kick and and and try and

find new ways of getting the ball in the

net without anyone touching it and you

know I’ve been lucky enough to have done

that over the years with with the way I

kick the ball and I know that it’s a

unique style and I know I know it’s a

unique style just because my back hurts

a little bit more than than it did when

I was 15 years old but no I you know

it’s something I practice of course you

know it’s one thing I tell kids and and

unless you practice you’re never gonna

you know get better at something well I

think there’s not a goalkeeper in the

world who is not terrified when you line

up for that free kick so whatever you’re

doing keep doing it and so we have a

couple questions you know live from

London actually from our office in

London which we wanted to have that your

homeland people good answer you why

don’t you go ahead

hi David Hayden my question is who is

more likely to win a World Cup in the

future England or the USA

that’s a terrible question to offer on

Saturn

I’m gonna have to say England cut I’m

really sorry I’m sorry I’ve got a lot of

respect for you know the us players in

the US team and they’ve got some very

talented players but I believe at some

point England are going to win a World

Cup because we have got a lot of

talented players in our country and

we’re very passionate and it’s where the

game began in you know so for me

definitely I think England they’re gonna

want to work up at some point America is

just pacing themselves us a few years

behind us but a few years after exactly

JT hey David JP over in London morning

afternoon evening pointed by it even in

kind of it and so I’ve seen you play a

couple times one of them was a tsunami

charity game you played at Barcelona

with loads of superstars and I just

wanted to know who was the greatest

player you play with or against okay

again I’ve been lucky enough over the

years to have played with some of the

best players in the world obviously

being a Manchester United being at Real

Madrid being an AC Milan you know these

are three of the biggest clubs hidden in

the world so obviously there’s some

great players there being able to play a

very Ken Turner I think that was that

was a great thing as a Manchester United

being able to play with a player

is bryan robson that was my hero and i

wanted to emulate but I think the best

player I’ve ever played with his sedan

he’s a player with a lot of passion a

lot of skill and it’s not just a an

amazing player he’s he’s a great person

as well the player the hardest player to

have played against with Roberto Carlos

OU’s it was now actually one of my best

friends but even when I didn’t know him

as well as I do now he used to kick the

hell out of me the whole game but he had

this cheeky smile which you couldn’t

hate him in it in any way possible but

he’s definitely the most the toughest

player I’ve played against Cody my

question is if le galaxy would play in

the English Premier League

probably stack up against the

conversation we’d win it no I think you

know the galaxy have been great in the

last two years we’ve been really

successful we’ve obviously been close to

winning the championship over the over

the last few years but then obviously

this year winning the championship we’ve

got a lot of good young players coming

through players that you know teams in

Europe are interested in so I think we

would do well in the Premiership it’d be

interesting I think you never know I

mean that’s the beauty of the game I

mean I think you know you work hard

train hard I mean that’s what stuff is

all about you know it’s all about upsets

it’s all about you know you know teams

that you don’t think as good as other

teams going in and beating them you know

that’s what the FA Cup is all about in

England you know lower league teams go

in and they beat some of the you know

the best Premiership teams in England so

it’s what it’s all about but I think I

think we’d do well over there maybe one

day it might be a bit cold before a few

players in in December but we’d do well

that’s great

JT mentioned the charity game that you

played and I think you know we’ve seen

you do a lot of philanthropic work

throughout your career I think we

touched on it in the UNICEF work in the

highlight video and recently we saw that

you were in Afghanistan visiting some

troops there can you tell us what about

what that trip was and what you did

there I mean I know it sounds kind of a

cliche but charities one of my biggest

passions I’ve been lucky enough to be

involved with UNICEF as an ambassador

and that’s something that I’m very proud

of but I want to do more you know

obviously with with my job we’ve you

know in my travel it’s very difficult to

go into the field and to do different

things but I’ve been able to go to

places like Sierra Leone you know and go

in places like that and seeing the

change that UNICEF are making to so many

people around the world that’s one of my

biggest passions that’s why when people

say to me after my career and we’re

going to go into coaching I need to be

passionate about something that I’m

going to go into and coaching I love

coaching kids but I prefer to go into

the field and see the kids you know in

Sierra Leone or in in different parts of

Africa and around the world and coach

them because this it’s making a huge

difference going to Afghanistan was

something that I’d always wanted to do

to see the troops of course you know and

when I got when I ruptured my Achilles

two years ago I had some time off

obviously and and I thought okay I need

to put that to to you know to do

something good and I had the chance to

go to Afghanistan it was a secret at the

time but then obviously by the time I

got there it was that it was out but you

know it was a huge thing you know to

some of the the job that the troops do

over over there and Afghanistan is

really incredible to see the conditions

that they work under and and you know

they’re putting their lives at risk

every single day and it must be

gut-wrenching for their families to see

their loved ones you know brothers

sisters sons daughter you know it’s

there’s so many different levels that is

difficult and to go to Afghanistan was a

one of the best things I’ve done in my

life yeah I think it must be in with

your work with UNICEF since 2005 I mean

it must be amazing to see you know you

as an international football star how

the game can bring such a joy or change

people’s lives and just these kids all

around the world I mean that’s what’s

great about about soccer you know I’ve

said it so many times that when I was

when I was in Sierra Leone you know

these kids are walking about we’ve

literally no clothes on

but you arrive you put a soccer ball in

front of them they play like my kids

play and that’s that’s what soccer can

do for you and do for kids and do for

families for that 90 minutes you know

you’re driving along the street and you

know like I said this kid with no

clothes on and running around with no

shoes on and then you look over and then

you know kids are watching Premiership

games in a in on the side of the street

you know it can change people’s lives it

can you know for that 90 minutes of a

game it takes them away from the life

they’ve got every single day and that

that is the power of soccer it’s a power

of sports it’s it’s something that one

of the reasons why I love being involved

in sports it is amazing

so moving out a little bit as we look

through all the questions that we got

you know coming to you I think

unsurprisingly there were a lot of

questions from people who are curious

about your personal life you know I

think when you marry a Spice Girl I

guess that happens yes it does but I

think before he gets all of those one of

the more overarching questions that

everyone had and everyone wants to know

is what was it like to be at the wedding

of the decade the Royal Wedding

what was it like to be there I mean we

had to pinch ourselves when we got the

invite you know I’ve setup I’ve become

friends with with with Prince William

and he’s a he’s a great guy and

obviously and Harry as well and I was

brought up around the royal family to

love the royal family my family my

grandparents were big Royalists and so

we was brought up to love the royal

family and I think when when obviously

Princess died I was around you know the

the love for her and for the royal

family was was incredible

and she was loved by millions and

millions of people not just in our

country and then obviously you you you

watch the lives of William and Harry and

you you see everything about them and

it’s kind of like The Truman Show you

know they’re kind of growing and growing

and doing different things and being

part of different charities and growing

up from young boys to - yup - young men

and to grown men and and it makes you

proud to be English to see that happen

you know you watch their lives you watch

what they’ve been through and then you

watch them grow into the people they are

today and and they’re very special

people and you know the the Royal

Wedding was a huge thing for our country

  • to have a celebration like that it was

it was very special and it give it gave

you know our country a huge lift at the

time and has continued to do that but

being at the Royal Wedding was

incredible

it was all my favorite parts I mean the

one of the best things about it for my

wife she was 8 months pregnant and she

was worried about where we was going to

be sitting as she needed to be as close

to the restaurant as possible and our

seat was perfect because because we

could see obviously William and Kate

walk in but then obviously Victoria

could then she was like five steps away

from the restaurant which was perfect so

it was a it was an amazing day and you

know we’re proud to be part of that as

an Englishman that’s great well speaking

of Victorian being pregnant nur aqui she

has a question about Harper the question

is has Harper spoken her first word yet

what was it and if not are there any

playful competitions between you and

Victoria to see if she’ll say mommy or

daddy first I mean I think naturally the

first word is gonna be mama and she’s

close to her already she sent a few

things but you know I’ve obviously got

free amazing boys and with boys you know

I’m sure people that have children know

or people who have been around children

know with boys you can throw them up and

they drop and they get up and they just

run around and with boys it’s like that

but you know obviously my first

experience of having a little girl and

and still I still I’m changing a diaper

and I’m thinking I can’t believe I’ve

got a girl so you know everything about

her is feminine you know the way she

moves the way she eats the way she smile

was the way she looks

you know everything about her is

feminine and I know it sounds obvious

but it’s an amazing thing having a

little girl in the family now after

having three boys but the best thing

about it is she’s got three older

brothers mm-hmm yes

well I got the say she and a dead she

isn’t AB C’s an impeccable dresser from

what I’ve seen so how old robe is

ridiculous already that’s I’m glad I got

to two-year contract very good well

staying with that I mean obviously with

three boys and now girl in Victoria you

know

Andres Rubio barriga asks how do you

keep the balance between work and family

obviously you’ve got a hectic life

around the world what’s that like I mean

obviously as a family we’re very busy as

a couple we’re very busy Victoria’s got

a collection that he’s obviously doing

unbelievably well but there’s a lot of

pressure that comes with that obviously

you know and I’m working every day I

play and train every day so it’s it’s

difficult but like I said before you

know our number one priority is our

children and their family nothing else

gets in the way of that

you know when I’m away Victoria’s at

home with the boys and and Harper when

when she’s away vice versa so you know

we’re we’re very hands-on parents you

know I take the kids to school every day

pick them up every day we go Taekwondo

we go soccer we go you know there’s so

many things that we do with the kids and

like I said we’re very hands-on parents

so you know it doesn’t our lives our

busy lives don’t affect you know the

children in any way but but the children

understand that we work very hard as

well so you know we’ve got we’ve got a

very good balance there it’s amazing to

see I mean people as busy and hectic as

you in Vitoria it can still take your

kids to Taekwondo and be as hands-on I

think it’s a I mean it sets the kid kids

up for life I think you know the way you

are with them at a very young age and

you know we’ve got a very very special

kids that’s great you earlier talking

about obviously the travel with with the

galaxy and you’ve lived in Italy Spain

the UK karolina ramos asks what is your

where is your favorite place in the

world favorite place in the world I

would have to say I had funnily enough I

love

Harris as a city fondly enough and they

was obviously one of the offers I got to

go and play there so but I love Paris

which is very romantic this is amazing

culture amazing food and wine but you

know I’m very proud to be English in

London there’s not many better place in

the world than London mmm very good I’m

sure London who was very happy to hear

that I hope so

so while we’re on the the personal life

topic stuff I have to say I was I

promised some fellow co-workers I would

ask you this question okay please you

know don’t be embarrassed but you know I

think a lot of people are interested

what’s up with the new underwear

campaign hardly this is you know I mean

I heard Superbowl ad and the big is this

thing gonna get another pun I mean

[Laughter]

obviously I was part of Armani campaign

for a couple of years and that was a

huge success and then you know I was

interested in doing something along the

lines with with with my own range of

underwear and body wear and so I got

together with a few people and part of

my team and and we designed and and made

everything and we had the product all

ready to go and then H&M came in and

they said look we can we can make this

better for you and and they did you know

they they’re taking it to 1,800 stores

40 different countries and it’s

something that I could have probably had

taken a few years but you know wouldn’t

have reached that level of you know of

distribution so I’m very proud of it

pictures are pictures are good

jump which I’m happy about the product

looks great so that’s exciting you know

it’s I’m launching on February 1st so

it’s gonna be exciting that’s that’s in

London so Super Bowl ad know can you say

there’s a Super Bowl wait which is which

is very exciting because you know the

amount of people that watch the Super

Bowl and she is gonna see the advert the

worlds of football collide which I just

thought about very good very good a

couple more questions on the personal

side MTA’s eye jaws asked as wondering

are you considering starring in a film

with Tom Cruise loved to star in this

video we’re told crews who wouldn’t I

got it

you know people have asked me over the

years especially when I first moved to

LA they was like he’s obviously going

over to you know become an actor and I

can’t act simple as that you know it’s

something that I’ve never done I’ve been

involved with obviously adverts and

different you know I was involved in a

couple of movies that were about soccer

but you know not major parts not much

talking involved so that was that was

great

but who knows he something might happen

in the future that if someone comes up

to me and says you know we want you to

play this person and you know and maybe

it will happen but I don’t think so it’s

it’s not something it’s not an ambition

of mine already her first something

might happen in the future

exactly you know Never Say Never Never

Say Never because you guys are neighbors

right you live yeah we live five minutes

away five minutes away so you know nono

banter around you know the recycling I

mean there’s been too but not banter

that I could say live on Google gotcha

very good very good one more question on

this Dinoco asks are you feeling nervous

about your first Google+ hangout I’m not

nervous I’m excited you know being here

today I was excited you know woke up at

6 o’clock this morning and give the kids

breakfast just before I left and I was

excited about it it’s something that I

was really looking forward to so not

nervous that’s good I think why should

that be I know I think it’s a no I think

you’re doing fine I think you know

afterwards it’ll be easy I mean it’s

just you know video conferencing with

you know a bunch of your fans talking

face-to-face it seems like something

that surely fun then okay I think and

for those of you that would like to

watch that afterwards David will be

talking with some fans at 10:30 Pacific

time right here on ask Google Plus

profile so I think now we’re going to

take some questions from Googlers around

the world I think we’ll take a couple

questions live from here in the audience

and some kind of pre-selected questions

so any Googler that has a question

please begin lining up but we’ll start

with a question from Michael

accomplisher from London and he wants to

know did you have a role model as a

child and who was it I had a role model

in football in soccer sorry that was

Bryan Robson he used to play for

Manchester United he was kept in a

Manchester United City captain of

England he wore the number seven for

Manchester United and England and

everything that he did I wanted to do

and become and and do exactly what he

was like as a player and I was lucky

because I wore number seven for

Manchester United wore number seven for

England and captained England and

Manchester United so I was very lucky to

have done that so he was you know a role

model that I looked up to when we take a

live question over here and it was

everything that you’ve accomplished in

kind of your career in your life in

general what would you say is the most

meaningful accomplishment that you’ve

had my family my families

it really is you know obviously I’ve

I’ve done a lot in my career and I’ve

been able to be successful in different

countries and different teams and

different leagues but and I’m very proud

of that but you know my proudest

possession is my family next thank you

when we take one on the same hi David

hey um I wanted if you could talk a bit

about the London Olympics obviously

you’re involved in the bid at the time

yeah and so are you hoping for a place

in Team GB and what would it mean to you

to play in a couple picks I mean it’s

exciting you know for our country to

host one of the biggest sporting events

in the world I think it’s it’s really

exciting and I think buzz around England

and around London especially in around

East London where obviously I’m I was

brought up it’s exciting so yes I would

love to be part of Team GB I’ve never

been involved in Olympics and when when

you know the team came to me and said

you know we want you to be involved in

in the bid to get the Olympics to our

country and to London

I wasn’t skeptical but I was I was kind

of nervous because you know I’m not an

athlete that has performed in the

Olympics so I kind of I was worried what

I was going to bring to the table and

what I was going to do to help bring it

to our country but you know to be there

and to be part of a successful bid to

bring it to London I was very proud of

it’s one of the proudest moments that

that I’ve been involved in you know

especially to be sat there one side and

then the Paris side whilst at the other

side and all the media actually had

moved to the in front of the the Paris

team so we all of a sudden got worried

and then we expected Paris to be called

out and then then London came out and it

was there was an exciting time but it’s

gonna be gonna be an amazing games you

know we’re gonna make it proud it’s

great we have a question from Anoosh

ganda from London and he going back to

the proudest moment in

in your footballing career so far what

would be the proudest moment proudest

moment in my footballing career is it

have to be winning the treble for

Manchester United the year you know 99

you know it was a great year I got

married I had my first son and we won

the treble so it was a it was a big year

hey David

since moving to California what’s the

funniest misunderstanding your Victoria

I’ve had because of your accent I’m not

sure we’ve had as a funnier one than as

our children had the other day we were

sat there in the kitchen well when in

the in our first year and in Brooklyn

Brooklyn was writing on on a piece of

paper or drawing or doing some sketching

and he said he said daddy I need I need

some rubbers and now and I started

looking around and I looked over and we

had a couple of friends there from the

US and they was they looked in shock so

I didn’t understand it at the time but

he now calls them erasers anyway

that is awesome take one on this side

hi David thank you for coming actually

don’t have an accent I just really like

yours

my accent

Thanks yeah so thanks for coming I’m

wondering after today’s hangout do you

have plans on how you’d like to use

hangouts in the future in terms of

engaging with your fans all over the

world

well hoping it goes well then they’ll

definitely be more but you know I think

this is the first time I’ve done it so

it’s uh it’s exciting you know to be

able to hang out with fans they’ve

supported me over the years and

throughout my career it’s special and

obviously it gives them a chance to ask

me questions that they’ve obviously

never been able to so it’s a I’m excited

and hopefully they’ll be walk can I get

a quick picture with you of course you

can

[Applause]

you look handsome buddy

thank you that very number all right

ready

one two three cheese there you go back

to the questions I know derman there

sing from the San Francisco office asks

about you know throughout your your

career you’ve played against many teams

which particular team or set of players

has left you and on I think you talked

about players but you know maybe you can

talk a lit more or the team side that

you’ve played against I think teams that

have played against they’ve left me in

or I’d have to say the Barcelona team

every time you come up against the

Barcelona team they play the game in

such a great way

but I think the the the one team that I

played against that that were amazing it

was where Ronaldo the Brazilian player

got a standing ovation from the

Manchester United fans and that team

watching that team the way they played

for me you know it left you kind of you

know in awe of the players of the setup

of of them as a club and the players

that played there you know they had

Sudan rail Roberto Carlos Ronaldo little

little did I know I’d be playing with

them the season after so you know that

was exciting but they’re definitely the

team that was in or off that’s great

that’s great when we take a question on

this site your wife has been known to

wear some pretty ridiculously tall shoes

I was wondering what your opinion is on

your wife’s Footwear

I think taller the better put this valve

not I’ve not worn them she’s she said

over the years that I wore underwear

some unknown reason she said that live

on TV by the way

which is not true but no the shoes are

great I was you know I love a pair of

high heels on a lady so different

question hey tell me the type of

question so if you if you want to pick a

team to beat FC Barcelona so which one

do you want to choose and we already

have some ideas to beat them I think to

come up against a Barcelona team is it’s

exciting you know you can never be

worried about playing against a team you

know as great as Barcelona are as great

as Real Madrid and Manchester United are

we’re a team that’s growing and we’ve

got some very good young players in our

team and we’ve been able like I said

earlier about the interest in in this

league and our team around the world you

know we’ve had some of the biggest

players and the biggest teams come over

and want to play against us in in

preseason games so we’ve come up against

AC Milan Barcelona Real Madrid I was

gonna say Manchester City but but we’ve

come up against some some great teams

and it’s great to have that interest so

you know you should never be worried

about who are you gonna play against

okay we’ll take one final question over

here and

thanks for coming David um I know if

you’ve been around league you’ve been

around you know various different

leagues where would you like to finish

your soccer career at would you like to

go back to Manchester United do you want

to stay in America or do you want to

tackle somewhere a league that you’ve

never been to I mean you know my next

birthday may may I’ll be 37 in soccer

years it’s it’s not so young but in life

in life is young and I still feel young

so I’ll continue to play the game as

long as I can I love it you know every

single day I enjoy going to training I

enjoy playing in games

I enjoy being part of a team and you

know my contracts now for two years so

take me up to almost 39 almost and then

we’ll see you know I think people

expected me to you know move away from

the galaxy or retire at the end of this

year so I’m excited about these next

couple of years but you know we’ll see

what happens in the future we do

actually have a shirt for you I’m not

gonna ask you to autograph it but you

know we do have a Google Beckham track

job which we would like to present to us

thank you very much

thank you we definitely definitely want

to thank you for coming and I think in

addition to track jacket you know all
