How to Pronounce MONEY American English

In this American English pronunciation video,
we’re going to go over the pronunciation of

the word ‘money’.

This week’s Word of the Week is ‘money’. ‘Money’
is a two-syllable word with stress on the

first syllable. Money. It begins with the
M consonant sound, lips are together, mo-,

mo-. Then we have the UH as in BUTTER sound.
This is the core sound of American English.

Nothing should be engaged. The tongue should
be relaxed, the lips should be relaxed. Mo-,

mo-. Then we have the N consonant sound and
the EE as in SHE vowel. The tongue tip will

come to the roof of the mouth, mon-, and the
flat part will lift here, making contact for

the N sound, mon-ey, ee. Then the tongue tip
will come back down for the EE as in SHE vowel.

Money, money.
