information before my flight
really nice to meet you too i was just
about to go look for you after i
finished unpacking i'm sorry you had to
come find me
oh don't worry about it i was excited to
meet a new friend so i rushed here as
soon as i heard you arrived

i've got one more suitcase to unpack

need to put these shirts away wow
that shirt is bright orange interesting
choice
i wouldn't normally choose this color
for myself but
it is important to us dutch people we
all wear it on king's day
what is king's day it is essentially our
monarch's birthday
we all get a day off and dress up in
orange of course
to celebrate that sounds fun
i imagine there would be a lot of
drinking yes
oh yes a lot of it 18
is the legal age to consume alcohol in
our country
so we college students can also
participate
i see here you need to be at least 21.
i'm sure there are many other fun
activities though right
definitely you know what why don't you
finish unpacking then i'll show you
around the campus
it is very big so i think giving you a
tour now
would ensure you don't get lost in the
next few months
that would be lovely just give me a
minute
so this is the cafeteria where you can
get your daily meals
wow it's so nice that the cafeteria is
right next to the dorm
so convenient i agree it's a buffet as
well
you can buy a meal plan for the whole
year and just go in and get your food
it's different in the netherlands we
normally have to rent rooms outside of
the campus and cook for ourselves
the cafeterias are more for snacks and
drinks
they do sell meals as well but they are
rather expensive and
offered limited dishes you must spend a
lot of time cooking them
yes it is very time consuming but also
can be
a fun activity when friends are over
still i wouldn't be able to do that
myself
students can choose to rent apartments
outside of the campus here too
but because i am a terrible cook i don't
think that's a good option for me
i wasn't good at cooking either but you
just have to learn
i know but maybe after college
this is our school stadium it's really
huge
yes college football is very popular in
the us
and our school's team is pretty strong
there's a game night next week you
should come
i will i heard it's a lot of fun we
don't really have such events in the
netherlands
oh really what sports do you guys play
there then
i'm not too sure i only heard rowing is
pretty big among the people in my school
but they normally form teams outside of
the school so there are no
game nights that's too bad
they are really fun you know what my
friends and i are all going we plan to
go get fast food after the game as well

okay here we go my least favorite place
in the entire school
the library duh i only ever go here when
i need to cram for exams
and those times are not particularly
enjoyable
do you know how many all-nighters i
pulled last semester
no but don't tell me i don't want to
know
me neither talking about it gives me
nightmares
what about you don't tell me you like
the library
i wouldn't say so but i don't hate it
either
i actually don't go there to study much
because it is normally not open 24 7
like it is here
i prefer to stay home and study at my
own desk
oh i can't do that i would constantly be
distracted
yes some of my friends are like that as
well but i find studying at home quite
relaxing because it is quiet
and i can move around as much as i want
without bothering others
good point one time i forgot to plug in
my headphones and my music started
playing out loud when i was in the
library
it was one of the most embarrassing
moments of my life
ah it's okay i'm sure people understood
yeah well i got over it do you want to
go to the library together to study
sometime though
it can be a good group activity sure
i think we can even book our own room in
the library right
yes but we have to be quick if not
there's normally a long line for that
