How To Use Roughing It in English Expand Your Vocabulary

do you like roughing it let’s talk about
it recently my husband and i got a light
tent a light sleeping bag and some light
camping gear to go camping in the middle
of the woods
i know that this isn’t something that
everyone likes so i would like to ask
you do you like to rough it rough it
this is today’s expression rough it or I
am roughing it and that simply means
that you are not using modern
conveniences
maybe you’re sleeping in a tent instead
of in your house you’re sleeping in a
sleeping bag instead of on your bed
you’re cooking on a campfire instead of
in your kitchen you’re doing some things
that aren’t really convenient you are
maybe doing things outside things that
take a little longer you are roughing it
typically we use this expression to talk
about camping or some physically
difficult situation usually something
that involves being away from modern
conveniences I want to show you a couple
examples of when this expression was
used so for the course the fearless
fluency Club we have a private group
where I post videos and extra material
and other members also interact and
share things together and recently I
shared a video from my recent camping
trip I showed our campsite I showed the
beautiful view and I used this
expression so I’m gonna show you part of
that video and I’m going to show you
part of a video of my husband Dan eating
outside without silverware we forgot to
bring a fork so we had to rough it we
had to use a stick
and just try to see what happened so
you’re gonna see these two video clips
and you’re gonna hear the expression
rough it or roughing it a couple times
let’s watch it fire here we cook some
sausage and potatoes and cabbage and
marshmallows and hot chocolate we’re not
we’re not roughing it too much and
pretty good it tastes good with a stick
tastes fine it’s uh we had to rough it
because we have no some little
silverware so we forgot our forks and
knives just wrapping it decided why not
we’re in nature and we need our good old
protein and fat for the morning yep so
we’re eating sardines still tasty maybe
it doesn’t work as well as a fork now
that you know what the expression
roughing it means I want to ask you do
you like roughing it do you like to

that’s a little bit inconvenient but
