Meet My Baby Learn English Through Daily Life
Hi, I’m Vanessa from SpeakEnglishWithVanessa.com.
Today I have a special guest.
I’d like to introduce you to Theo, my wonderful
baby.
His full name is Theodore Hugo and we call
him Theo.
Right now he is almost three-months-old and,
as you can imagine, it’s kind of hard to make
a video with a baby because he often doesn’t
want to just sit here with me and make a video
so I decided to film him during daily life,
while we’re walking, while he’s playing, while
he’s sleeping and I wanted to share these
normal, daily life clips with you.
Hopefully you’ll learn some interesting vocabulary
during the video clips and hopefully you’ll
enjoy seeing Theo.
Wow, he really likes this, I’m kind of surprised.
Are you a natural video maker Theo?
During this video you’ll get to see different
clips of Theo.
I have a question for you because for me,
I feel a little bit uncertain about sharing
my child on social media, on YouTube, on Facebook
because I’m making the decision, he’s not
making the decision yet, I’m the one that’s
making that decision for him.
I don’t know if he would be happy with that.
I think it’s hard to say.
So what I want to know, for you, what do you
think?
Do you think it’s okay, to share information
about your children on social media?
It’s not a black and white decision, it’s
kind of a gray area that means that it’s uncertain.
This is a new thing that our generation has
to figure out.
I think he’s look the video image on the screen
of himself.
Do you see me on the computer screen?
So I want to know, what do you think?
My plan is to share this video with you because
I want to introduce you to Theo and then,
after that, I don’t plan on sharing too much
information about him because I want to respect
his privacy.
When he is a teenager, I want him to be happy
with the information that I shared.
Are you doing okay, buddy?
This will probably be one of the only videos
that is share about him but I wanted to introduce
one of the important people in my life.
So welcome to the world Theo and enjoy this
quick video.
Dan: Hey, he’s like “What?”
Whoa.
Surprise.
What?
Vanessa: Hey, sweetie.
Dan: Rapid fire kisses.
Vanessa: This is what Theo loves to do for
hours.
It’s how I get really strong because he likes
to chew on my finger too.
He likes to sit and just look around, look
out the window, look at things in our house.
I think he’s really curious.
It’s not so easy for my arms.
Hey, buddy.
Whatcha doing?
He likes to look up at these little animals.
I guess the different shapes and colors are
pretty exciting but right now looking at me
is more exciting.
That’s good because I’m your momma.
How are those feet doing?
Cute, cute, cute, cute.
As for my cats, they don’t really care about
him.
They just walk around, they’ve never tried
to step on him or anything.
One of our cats will look at him and kind
of sniff his head but it’s been pretty good
so far, I’m pretty satisfied.
Another thing that we like to do is, when
I’m doing anything and I don’t want to use
my arm muscles, I can just wrap him in this
baby wrap.
I have a couple different kinds baby wearing
devices.
It’s called Baby Wearing because you’re wearing
your baby.
He likes this one the best so whenever I’m
grocery shopping or hiking, like today, it’s
really convenient.
It’s kind of like being pregnant again because
he’s attached to me except the wonderful thing
is I can take him off and I don’t have to
carry him.
When I was pregnant, I couldn’t take him off.
So, as you can see, he’s pretty calm, he can
look around.
Usually he sleeps after a couple minutes so
probably after a couple minutes he’ll fall
asleep but he loves to look around.
Maybe he’s a little camera shy?
It’s going to be really convenient to use
this on our hike today.
This is the other carrier that we use to wear
him.
It’s pretty supportive, you can see it looks
sturdy.
He’s pretty happy, he likes it when you keep
moving.
Dan: We just moved him so he’s a little grumpy.
Vanessa: Yeah, I was wearing him before and
now Dan is.
So sometimes the transition takes a couple
of minutes for him to get used to but he likes
to chew on the side of the strap.
You have to keep bouncing, don’t stop bouncing
or else he’ll complain.
Bounce, dance whatever it takes.
Here we are sitting in the park, well, I’m
sitting.
Mr. Theo is presently eating his hand.
He loves to be in nature.
Hey Theo, what are you talking about?
Are you telling me about all the mysteries
of the universe?
Wow that was a fun sound.
Want to tell me some more?
Are you telling me how much you like to lie
outside on a blanket, in the leaves?
So fresh and crispy.
I know you’re always so happy whenever we
go outside.
Shh, the baby’s sleeping.
Thank you so much for watching this video
and for meeting Theo.
Thank you Theo for being part of this video
I appreciate it.
