PHRASAL VERB TAP

This is the Rachel’s English 30-Day Challenge!

Learn 30 phrasal verbs in 30 days!

Jumpstart your vocabulary in 2017.

Today is Day 15

and we’re studying “tap” phrasal verbs.

I hope you’re not tapped out on excitement for learning phrasal verbs!

Because today we’ve got another one to learn.

Tap out:

that means to have nothing left.

We can use it with money,

energy,

ideas,

resources of any kind.

Hey Rach, want to come out for dinner?

No, I don’t have any money.

I’m totally tapped out after vacation.

To tap into means to use some of a supply of money, energy, ideas, etc.

Our new employee has a great energy.

I wish I could tap into it.

Hey, can I tap into your snacks?

We had to tap into our savings to buy a new car.

Now, if you get tapped for something,

that’s an honor.

That means you were asked to do something.

She was tapped to sing the Star Spangled Banner at the baseball game.

She was tapped to be company’s new CEO.

Tap in,

tap out,

tap for:

useful phrasal verbs.

Tap begins with a True T:

The teeth are together,

the tongue is at roof of the mouth,

tt, tt.

When we release, you can feel a little burst of air, tt, tt, tap.

Tap. Release right into the AA vowel.

Jaw drops, ta, aa, and the back of the tongue lifts.

tip stays down. Aa, ta

If you have a hard time with this vowel,

think of making your mouth on a shape of a square,

aa that might help:

Aa, aa, taa-, tap.

To end, a P.

The lips come together. Tap.

Most of the time,

Americans will release the P into a light burst of air. Tap, pp, tap.
