Grocery Store VS Supermarket
hi i’m vanessa from speak english with
vanessa calm where do you buy food it’s
not the supermarket let’s get started a
lot of my students say i’m going
shopping today or I’m going to the
supermarket today when they want to talk
about buying food nope going shopping
means buying other things maybe buying
clothes or buying something for your
house this is going shopping and in the
u.s. we don’t really say supermarket
very much so I want to give you another
expression you can use I’m going grocery
shopping at the grocery store to buy
some groceries I live right beside three
grocery stores really when I look out my
front window I can see three grocery
stores so when I’m cooking if I don’t
have any more onions it’s really easy to
just run to the grocery store and get
them I could even leave my meal cooking
while I run to the store but if you
watch the video about brush it off you
know that’s not a good idea the best
thing about going to the grocery store a
lot is that they always have lots of
samples and I love samples so my husband
and I really like to cook Korean food
too so we go to the Korean grocery store
- sometimes with international grocery
stores we say Korean grocer Korean
market maybe some people might say
Korean supermarkets but Korean grocery
store I go to the grocery store these
are the best explanations
I don’t usually buy many groceries at
the grocery store because it’s so close
I can go there every day if I want in
this short story I used three versions
of the word grocery I said go to the
grocery store I go to the grocery store
I go grocery shopping in the grocery
store
and what do I buy at the grocery store I
buy groceries notice that there is a C
but it sounds like sh groceries at the
grocery store so we go grocery shopping
at the grocery store to buy groceries on
