Dear Japanese English Learners

hi i’m vanessa from speak english with

vanessa calm where you can have natural

conversations in English without stress

today’s video is for my Japanese friends

Japanese English learners today I want

to talk to you about the biggest mistake

I see my Japanese students making don’t

make this mistake and let’s get started

whenever I meet a Japanese person who is

wanting to learn English the first time

I meet them I ask them what do you think

your English level is I want to know

what their perception of their English

ability is and time and time again

Japanese English learners you’ve told me

all my English is poor my English level

is bad I’m not a good English speaker

I’ve been learning English for so long

and I can’t speak any English why so

negative the biggest mistake I see

Japanese English learners make is

Japanese English learners underestimate

their own ability they think they are

much lower than they really are it’s

really important to remember where you

used to be and where you are now you

used to know no English at all you used

to only know pencil cat dog but now

you’re watching this video and

understanding thirty fifty seventy

percent 100% you have come so far so my

recommendation for Japanese English

learners is to try to think about the

positive side of your English ability

think about where you used to be and how

much you have already learned

maybe you’ve been learning English for a

long time but still you have learned a

lot for example I think it’s a good idea

to use an even though statement for

example even though I have been learning

English for a long time I have

learned a lot of vocabulary even though

I have been learning English since I was

12 years old I have progressed pretty

far even though I feel nervous speaking

with native speakers I’m excited that

we’re speaking together today even

though I’m not certain if I can get any

better I’m willing to try I want you to

focus on the positive if we’ve if you

continue to think negative negative I’m

not a good speaker my English is really

poor you’ll start to think that it’s a

reality that you can never change so I

challenge you to think positively and to

try to say positive statements when

you’re speaking English this will help

you to improve and to feel great about

the ability that you have and where you

can go you will feel much more positive

about progressing and you will be able

to progress much faster if you are

excited about getting there and you

don’t feel negative about the past I

hope that this video was helpful to you

and I have a challenge for you in the

comments below

leave me a positive comment about your

English ability for example you can say

last week I spoke English with an

English teacher for 25 minutes that’s

amazing

a conversation for 25 minutes you have

progressed so far or you can say I

watched this video Vanessa and I

understood 80%

wow that’s great leave a comment and say

that so I want to hear some positive

comments about your English ability I’ll

talk to you later

goodbye thanks for watching don’t forget

video course goodbye

you
