Learn English Follow Instructions We Make Pizza
hi everyone welcome back to another
episode at English I’m your teacher
Emma and this is my brother Ben hello
and today we’re making pizza dough from
scratch so firstly we’re going to
explain the ingredients that we need
okay tell us what we need we need 800
grams of Pizza flour so this is not just
plain flour it’s a special flour for
making pizza dough or bread so if you
can find this one use it and 200 grams
of semolina some dry yeast so it comes
in a packet like this and we need two of
these sachets this is a sachet so we
need 2 of those and we need 650 mils of
lukewarm water so lukewarm is about the
same temperature as our bodies we’ll
need 4 tablespoons of olive oil and a
tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of
sea salt an important utensil we need is
a sieve it’s pronounced sieve with the e
vowel sound the same as sit and the
voiced sound sieve sieve the verb used
to describe the action is also sieve
pronounced the same way use a sieve to
sieve the flour onto the bench
the first sieve is the noun and the
second sieve is the verb Ben is saving
the flour onto the bench
make a well in the middle as a noun well
is a deep hole usually dug in the ground
to find water but the word is also used
in cooking to describe a deep hole that
you pour liquid into just like that
good job bin in a jug mix the sugar
yeast olive oil and water that’s the
sugar the yeast the olive oil and the
lukewarm water pour the liquid into the
well use a fork to gradually bring the
flour into the well try not to spill it
like been the adjective gradually means
just a small amount at a time Ben is
very carefully using the fork to bring a
small amount of flour into the well each
time he stirs
keep mixing bring more flour in each
time it should start to look like this
then dust your hands with flour use your
hands to combine the rest of the mixture
knead the dough until it is smooth and
springy need is a verb used only when
making dough then is kneading the dough
it’s a special way of combining all the
ingredients to make bread the words
smooth and springy describe the texture
of the dough how it feels smooth is
completely even with no lumps it’s
springy because when I push it it comes
back out to the same shape again place
the dough inside a large flower dusted
Bowl Ben is dusting the bowl with flour
to dust
something is to put a very light layer
of powder on something so flour is a
type of powder again he’s dusting the
dough with flour
cover the bowl with a damp cloth
and leave it in a warm place for an hour
a dab cloth is a cloth that is wet but
not very wet just a small amount of
water on the cloth check the dough it
should have doubled in size that means
it should be 2 times bigger than it was
before like this that looks great Ben
dust the bench with semolina there’s
that verb again to dust
Ben’s putting a light layer of semolina
on the bench he’s dusting the bench with
semolina take the dough out of the ball
and place it on the bench gently knead
the dough again to push the air out of
it Ben is being very gentle and careful
with the dough he’s pushing the error
take a small amount of dough and roll it
out with a rolling pin roll it out means
to make it flat and when it’s flat it’s
called a pizza base put the pizza base
on a tray
put your favorite pizza toppings on the
pizza base pizza toppings are all the
other ingredients that you put on your
pizza base to make your pizza ben is
putting tomato paste cheese mushrooms
