is a protest song in slow motion it’s a
meditation on the complex feelings of
struggle
belonging and resignation that many felt
during the awkward years between the end
of the 60s
and the beginning of the 70s it’s sort
of
the break between bursts of action
when we stop to think about the way
things are going
and reflect in this case the vietnam war
was dragging on
the 60s had died with a number of its
most prominent figures
and the nation was struggling to come to
terms with itself
so this is one of the many ways that
people throughout history have examined
america
and in addition to presenting sort of an
indictment of the direction of america
