hello everyone
have you ever had a dream to achieve
something you worked for it and then
achieved it now
imagine how excited it felt after
achieving that dream
and for how long you felt that
excitement is crucial
now hold on to your thoughts of what you
felt
this something that happened with my
fourth dream
it was around 20 years ago
i was playing gully cricket in my shorts
and dirty t-shirt
in my village there were 15-20 kids
playing on the street suddenly everybody
stopped playing
and started looking at a distance i
looked around
and i saw a car coming
this was classic mosaic
it was sunny day and the car was shining
bright white
there were two gentlemen inside and they
were really happy
and why won’t they they own such an
amazing car that’s what i thought
they dropped off the car on the street
and went somewhere
immediately everybody on the street all
the kids
gathered around the car and started
looking inside i was one of them
i looked inside and it had an exquisite
interior with all wooden finish i had
never seen something like that before
whenever i used to see this car on the
street i used to see these two gentlemen
and they were all happy
and smiling this car definitely brought
a lot of attention and happiness to
their lives
i was so inspired this car became my
dream car
i took a note that whenever i will be
buying my first car
it was going to be this car it was
mercedes-benz e-250
it was german built w1241
time passed and the dream was foregone
a few years ago i decided to buy a new
car
and this was the time i wanted to buy
and make my dream come true but the car
was really expensive
so i searched for the cheapest option in
the pre-owned market
luckily i was able to find it out of old
and well maintained mercedes
this was also a german-made model
even with the cheapest option
it took away all my savings
my friends and family warned me not to
be foolish
and by a depreciating asset
but it was my conscious decision
to get that dream come true
it was my conscious decision to
accomplish and experience the dream
time and afford of a decade swept away
instantly but was it worth it
yes the experience was surreal
but it lasted only for an hour
what it is supposed to last longer right
or take care of the dream i was going to
accomplish
and i accomplished it
but it did not give me the happiness
that i wanted
a long term of happiness that i really
saw in those two guys
it didn’t work that way
so i thought is the feeling of
achievement so temporal
but the answer was no it was only when i
was traveling alone
when i was traveling with my friends and
family
it was a fun and exciting night but this
has nothing to do with my dream car
even with my friend’s regular car
the trip was fun and exciting so i took
a step back
and i thought of every other dream i’ve
ever dreamt of
i filtered out the ones which i
accomplished it
i noticed that the efforts
to accomplish a dream took far
longer time but after achieving it
the feeling lasted for a far lesser time
i always wanted to get into iam
when my entrance results were out and i
got selected and admitted to i am
calcutta
which is one of the leading mba
institutes in india
the feeling of excitement carried on
for only a few days but it took
several months of effort to reach to
that level
similarly with my friends in my college
group
we practiced for months and attempted
for guinness world record for longest
painting in the world by numbers
we achieved it but when we got this
certificate in hand
the surreal feeling short-lived
this happened with everything i achieved
the efforts took longer time
but the joy of achievement
was of far lesser time there was a
problem
there was a problem that i must solve
after thinking about it for many days it
triggered to me
that i have always been focused
towards achieving the end goal
i was so engulfed in achieving that
end dream that i lost track
of the entire journey i did not enjoy
that journey
so i decided i will be spending
two years of my time full of experiment
and trying to identify
how i can make that feeling live longer
say the efforts took an ear
then i should have at least an ear of
joy
in business terms the cost of time and
efforts
should bring long-term benefits and not
short-term gains
it was a simple calculation i
quit the corporate job
and now i was more focused on what
really mattered to me
and what mattered to me was to
accomplish my dream
but with a long-lived
sense of achievement of joy of happiness
i started working on accomplishing new
dreams
but this time i changed the dynamics
instead of focusing on the entire end
goal
i was more focused towards loving that
journey
towards enjoying the entire path i
always loved to paint
and wanted to exhibit my work in
galleries and art shows
but this time i was not more focused
towards getting my work exhibited to the
galleries
no but i was more focused on how i could
create and enjoy those visual experience
of joy of creating the artwork
as a result i was more focused
in getting to my style
that i was practicing it
eventually explode and
i had a body of work that was loved by
galleries
i was able to successfully exhibit my
works in india and abroad
recently in the month of april i
exhibited my work in walnut dubai
in the dubai world trade center
over this year i have shows planned for
london
singapore and mumbai
same thing happened with my hobby of
writing i always
loved and had a passion towards writing
stories
also now more focused was nurturing that
habit
it so happened that i applied for one of
the
india’s best writers program now
selected in top 60 writers
for one of the leading indian television
channel
hollywood writers came in and taught us
on some of the advanced story concepts
now
i’m working on a story and soon i
publish
on availability whatever caught my
attention
i tried to pursue those interests
because now i was more focused
towards enjoying the journey naturally
the fun and exciting part
was lasting longer
may that be corporate project or
painting writing
or anything i was more focused
towards getting that thing and loving
that part
rather than just the end goal
because of this of course my
concentration increased
and due to that my productivity also
increased
due to the change in pursuit of
happiness
my goals also started to change
now the fun ride
was my focus and not the dream car
my dream car automatically transitioned
into a fun ride with friends and family
when i was thinking about buying a car
i took a step back and thought about how
i can make it
perfect trip and that is how my dreams
also changed
and this did not happen with only my
personal life but also my professional
life
when i moved back to the corporate world
i was now more focused towards helping
my client
in achieving the best of their abilities
i was not focused on reaching the end
target that i was given
but what is the best that i can do of
the time that i have been given
these changes definitely helped me
in transforming myself in becoming much
more happier person and the joy of
achievement
lived longer
so my dear friends do something
each day that is going to bring you
closer to your dreams
find what really matters to you because
the sense
of achievement is temporary
but the journey that the
entire spectrum
of the life that brings in will stay
with you forever
these memories will stay with you
forever
so break the goals
and create the experience thank you
