it all started
when one day i was talking with a friend
of mine and they said something that
confused me
they said something about ben franklin
being president
no i may not be a trained historian but
i know enough to say hey ben franklin
wasn’t a president
this led me to look it up and see many
more people convinced that he was
president at some point in time
falling down this rabbit hole i found
the core
to this false memory the mandela effect
a worldwide phenomenon that has taken
over
with this new effect people have been
wondering
is it really an effect or just
a new wave of false memory the effect
was first founded in 2010 by
a paranormal researcher by the name of
fiona broome
she was researching late
south african leader nelson mandela and
his death because
many people were convinced that
he died in the 1980s which some of you
here may also
feel like you remember that however
nelson mandela died in 2013.
that’s a huge gap this isn’t an example
of
a few years off or a few months off this
is
33 whole years that’s over three decades
it gets even crazier considering this
isn’t the only example of this
mind-boggling effect
not only is it on death dates and
logos even how characters look in lines
from movies
one of the most popular examples is that
the berenstein bears
now i i read these books as a kid and i
love them
but when i was online and saw something
saying that it was the berenstain bears
i lost my mind how could something i
thought i remembered so clearly
clearly and something i loved so much
be wrong how could i forget something
like that
no it’s not only that if you thought
that was the end of it
you’re very wrong take the character
pikachu from pokemon
many people remember this lovable
pokemon with
a black end on his tail i mean
that’s what i remember however
he never had a black end on his tail
one of my closest friends even said she
thought she remembered
drawing pikachu with the black end on
his tail and she remembers drawing it
except when she pulled the drawing out
there was no black end on the tail
and the all-time famous line luke i am
your father
again wrong and if you watch the movie
it’s actually no i am your father
it gets even crazier considering there’s
millions of merchandises being sold
with the wrong line
now if you thought that was the end of
it you’d be wrong again
kit kat dash or no dash
froot loops fruit spelled correctly with
a ui
or a double o
looney tunes i personally remember
tunes and looney tunes being like a
cartoon
hence looney tunes
except that’s also wrong it’s actually
spelt tunes as in like
a musical tune
febreze i always remember there being
two e’s like febreze
no there’s only one e people have
started asking the company when did
febreze change the spelling of their
name
but they never did
flintstones i thought i was the only one
but turns out lots of other people
remember it only having one t in the
name
but there’s two
i performed my own study via a google
forms
and put 13 examples
and put 13 examples of different mandela
effects
and examples of a different
examples of the mandela effect into it
out of these 13 examples only
five were guest majority correct
specifically kit kat dash or no dash
curious george tail or no tail
pikachu black end on the tail or not
jif peanut butter jif or jiffy
and the flintstones one t or two
every other was guessed majority
incorrectly
now i can’t be the only one thinking
this is crazy how can
so many people be forgetting everyday
items and
characters and brands how can so many
people
forget such simple and popular things
now though there is no definitive answer
to this question
people have started coming up with
theories and
examples and explanations of
why this effect is happening the most
interesting of them being
one’s about alternate realities in
universes
yes you heard me right alternate
realities
and universes
now many people do not believe in these
topics
but there’s no definitive answer
or evidence to prove it incorrect just
as
there is no evidence to prove it correct
now on top of this people have also
started blaming their own
memory they’ve started saying i can’t
remember things correctly
or i have a horrible memory
with this kind of mentality how can the
human
race continue to be confident
if we have to be confident and positive
to survive
what will this negativity do to us
now you may be wondering why is this
important
who cares if people forget how to spell
the serial brand name
of a serial company but it’s
more than just that this effect
opens up multiple questions for the
psychology community
how does our memory change or is
everything around us changing and we
just don’t notice it
the mandela effect opens up multiple
opportunities and questions for the
human race
us to explore
question answer and study
so as i leave you all i ask you to pay
close attention to things around you
pay even closer attention to the things
that are close and dear to your heart
because who knows
one day they may not be how you remember
them now
