Go green by growing your greens

chomp do you know what i’m eating
i’m eating tomatoes do you know
where it comes from you must think it’s
from the supermarket
sorry it’s not it’s from my greenhouse
at the beginning of this year on one
sunny day my dad and i
were sitting in our backyard i was
playing in the garden
but i could see that he was just looking
at the garden
and did not move
it looked like he was thinking about an
idea
so i went to my dad and asked him what
was he thinking about
my dad smiled and asked me grace
do you want to build a greenhouse with
me
then we can plant whatever fruits and
veggies we want
do you think it’s a cool idea
a greenhouse wow
let’s do it that let’s do it it would be
so exciting
a few days later we started our
greenhouse project
we tried to use recycling materials to
make
an amazing greenhouse we use with sticks
to do the structure and plastic cloth
to do the walls one thing i have to
mention
is my dad also made a window and a door
to make our greenhouse look good
i thought it was fashionable it looked
like a real house
but my dad said that it was actually
for cooling down and keeping air
circulation in summer
when the weather is very hot
when it was finally completed i was so
amazed next we put in soil
my hands got dirty but i still feel so
happy and so proud of the work my dad
and i did now
the greenhouse is ready my dad
asked me what kind of
vegetables do you want to plant
after a while i said tomatoes
that’s my favorite so we grew a variety
of veggies
such as tomatoes cucumbers green beans
and strawberries
we cared for our plants every day
we water them we give them fresh air
and we weeded them too sometimes
we even sing songs to them to make them
feel happy
i like to water them do you know how i
do it
i just find a recycling bottle and punch
so many holes in it
then i put water in and make it rain for
them
day after day all the plants
were growing up healthy and strong
one day i was so surprised
that the tomatoes were as big as an
apple the beans were as long
as a snake the strawberries
were as red as cherries and the bok choy
was as green as the grass in summertime
picking the vegetables to enjoy them for
my meals
makes me so happy
now i have a question for everyone
do you know why we decided to build a
greenhouse
in our own backyard and try to plant
veggies by ourselves
because we want to do something to make
our world a better place
growing your own vegetables and fruits
are not just healthier for you they
are better for the planet too
when we go to supermarkets they get food
from farms
farms need trucks to deliver fruits and
veggies
to the supermarket every day
the trucks need gas which come from
fossil fuels and give out a lot of
co2 which i know is
very bad for the environment
so i think what everyone could do
is try to plant fruits and veggies
in your own backyard or even plant in
plant pot
it will not only make you feel satisfied
but it’s so much healthier for you
and also they are very delicious
we only have one home planet earth
we have to make this better together
all of us can make small changes
which can make an enormous impact
and now you know how to do it
uh-oh it’s time for me to help my dad
make dinner and whatever
i’m going to make i know it’s going to
be very delicious
