ladies and gentlemen good afternoon i am
josephine linger
it’s my pleasure to be here today today
i would like to share you a story about
one two three four five six seven
from one to seven it is not just a
string of numbers
in its mathematical sense
in the view of music levels these
numbers
are notes known as
doremi
the building blocks of all the music i
grew up with these seven notes
spending more than ten thousand hours
practicing percussion since childhood
i have won a lot of the world’s most
prestigious prizes
and with his experiences
of over a thousand performances on stage
now i can be very proud to say that
i became the best version of myself
as a percussionist thank you
but um i
now i ask myself
for these numbers or the notes
are the everything of my life no
the life i want should not be defined
by only one identity nor restricted
within one field
life is just like a beautiful music
which is so much more than just a rhythm
that’s why i decided to go get a second
master degree in finance
right after obtaining my first one in
music
many people around me were shocked by my
decision
and didn’t believe i could achieve this
in their view finance was for someone
but not me because you need a solid
background in math however
i have got my own conviction so long as
i have set my own
goal i will head for it
at a full steam despite all the
hardships
it would entail all along the way
so in the end i gained the finance
degree with tremendous work
from down to midnight
and also with distinction
it was through those thank you
you’re so kind it was through all these
hard works
and that i succeeded and also was able
to
develop my finance career later
music has always been my love while
finance
my passion our life is full of
possibilities
awaiting to be created and embraced
so the best part what we supposed to do
is
try our best to seize every opportunity
and use our talent life given to us
by doing this everything we want
will happen naturally and beautifully
the past year was full of challenge
in 2020 many concerts were brought
online
i studied to learn how to use recording
equipment
edit audio and video files
also fiddle with sound card to play
electronic music
it was in those days that i picked up
and brushed up these skills
i no longer cared about whether i was in
a gorgeous gun or
how grand a theater was
but i tried to look inward
to settle down my own mind and dive into
wonderful music
only in this way would i be able to show
the entire world
my love passion joy and
unfair this and optimism by my music
looking back the past year was special
and
with lots of surprises but
it’s just like a new note added to the
music
of my life to code
hamlet oh god i could be bounded in a
nutshell
and count myself a king of infinite
space
well it would be better
to break the nutshell in the first place
to imbue our life with
new possibilities
and this is my definition of
plus one possibility that makes
us better let’s take a look at
one two three four five six seven again
it can represent a math puzzle in
finance
or a skill in music if this music
then there should always be another
notes right after each one
and the same goes to our life
it is the plus one possibility
that makes our life unpredictable
right but more attractive
before i wrap up my speech today i’d
like to express my
hope for 2021 hopefully
the concerts all over the world will
open up and take place as usual
allowing people stay closer to each
other
to communicate connect and interact
with one another in melodic and harmonic
music
