How to continue learning through the COVID19 pandemic
how was 2020
for all of you i guess most of you would
answer negatively to my question
well i think that’s an obvious answer
and even i would say
that it wasn’t a perfect year 2020 was
an abnormal year
for everyone due to covet 19.
many expectations and plans had to be
cancelled
the biggest damage to japan was the
postponement of the tokyo 2020 olympics
and the international olympic committee
revealed that the tokyo
olympics has to be held without for
inspectors
i can’t even imagine how much loss it
has cost to everyone
in japan aside from these big damages
there must have been at least one
shocking news or cancellations of events
to all of you
during the covet 19 pandemic
for example entrance graduation
ceremonies had to be cancelled
new school life had to be done online
and so on
for me my one year study abroad had to
be cancelled
i was supposed to be studying france for
a year during my high school first year
i had been preparing for this study
abroad since i was in junior high school
and it had always been my dream to study
in france
however all my plans had to be cancelled
due to covet 19.
how come this virus appeared all of a
sudden in 2020
why did it have to be this year when i
was aiming for the biggest skull in my
life
i was filled with irritation depression
and many different kinds of emotions
which can’t be expressed by words
i was probably feeling this way till
summer
when i first participated in an online
program
i decided to participate in an online
study of our program
because i wanted to do something in
exchange for my actual study abroad
i took online french lessons for a month
every day during my summer holiday
at a school in france where i was
planning to study during my study abroad
i was surprised with the idea of taking
lessons online
but it really did feel like taking a
class in france
aside from this study abroad i decided
to participate
in a different program held online
this organization has been offering
summer school every year
but this year it was offered online
this online program was held for four
days at the end of december 2020
i didn’t expect so much for an online
program
however i was pleasantly surprised at
the quality of the online program
and it far exceeded my expectations
during this program i was able to get
inspirations and advice on what i can do
in exchange for my study abroad
through interaction with high school
university students and even
employee professionals i was able to
think deeply about my future path
and look towards what i should be doing
in order to accomplish my goals
from now on i will face challenges head
on with a renewed level of confidence
where previously i would have hesitated
2020 was a difficult year for me just
like many others
as all of my plans had to be cancelled
however this online program was such a
comfortable place
where i was able to escape some of the
difficulties of the year
and make the most of a challenging
situation
my experience in this program will be an
asset throughout my life
and i have a deep appreciation for what
the program has been able to do for me
by participating in an online program i
noticed some advantages
in my opinion online allowed a greater
level of engagement
and connection being able to see the
expressions on others faces
rather than having to meet in person and
cover it with masks
needless to say the pandemic has changed
so many aspects of our lives
although and often cases our lives were
impacted negatively
i’ve personally felt this pandemic has
brought the world a whole lot closer
take online exchange programs for an
example
i was able to virtually attend a lecture
held by a student from yale university
which would have been impossible if we
didn’t experience covet 19.
covet 19 allowed us to connect online
which has become a new normal
so why don’t you give it a try
meeting people and participating in an
event online
might not be as appealing as events held
in person
but it is worth giving a try don’t judge
before you even try
online events can change your life
